Universality of anomalous one-dimensional heat conductivity.
In one and two dimensions, transport coefficients may diverge in the thermodynamic limit due to long-time correlation of the corresponding currents. The effective asymptotic behavior is addressed with reference to the problem of heat transport in one-dimensional crystals, modeled by chains of classical nonlinear oscillators. Extensive accurate equilibrium and nonequilibrium numerical simulation...
متن کاملMolecular Dynamics Study of One Dimensional Heat Conductivity
The behavior of individual atoms and their interaction with one another in condensed matter is not easily observed using conventional instruments in the laboratory. This leads to difficulty testing proposed theories about how such a system behaves. Molecular dynamics takes advantage of computer simulations that can test these theories by “measuring” fundamental quantities at discrete time inter...
متن کاملRole of chaos in one-dimensional heat conductivity.
We investigate the heat conduction in a quasi-one-dimensional gas model with various degrees of chaos. Our calculations indicate that the heat conductivity kappa is independent of system size when the chaos of the channel is strong enough. The different diffusion behaviors for the cases of chaotic and nonchaotic channels are also studied. The numerical results of divergent exponent alpha of hea...
متن کاملOne-dimensional heat conductivity exponent from a random collision model.
We obtain numerically the thermal conductivity of a quasi-one-dimensional classical chain of hard sphere particles as a function of the length of the chain, introducing a fresh model for this problem. The conductivity scales as a power law of the length over two decades, with an exponent very close to the analytical prediction of 1/3.
متن کاملBulk Universality for One-dimensional Log-gases
In this note we consider β-ensembles with real analytic potential and arbitrary inverse temperature β, and review some recent universality results for these measures, obtained in joint works with L. Erdős and H.-T. Yau. In the limit of a large number of particles, the local eigenvalues statistics in the bulk are universal: they coincide with the spacing statistics for the Gaussian β-ensembles. ...
